SaaS PPC agency for UK and US software companies: pricing, CAC and payback

TL;DR

  • A SaaS PPC agency manages paid search and paid social for software companies and judges every campaign on what a paying customer costs to acquire and how quickly that cost is recovered.
  • SaaS management at Vibe Digital starts at €539/month per platform plus 8% of ad spend over €900. Setup is a one-time fee from €250 per social platform and €450 for Google Ads.
  • UK and US clients are invoiced in EUR, GBP or USD. There is no lock-in: agreements run month to month, and you own every ad account and conversion dataset.
  • Proof: after taking over a B2B SaaS client's Google and Meta campaigns from a large agency, we cut cost per acquisition from €59.50 to €26.30 and lifted blended ROI from 1.67 to 5.31 in six months.
  • We optimise on paid subscriptions where volume allows, and otherwise on the strongest predictor of revenue, such as activation or a product-qualified lead, validated against real MRR.

What a SaaS PPC agency should do

SaaS economics differ from eCommerce. Revenue arrives monthly, not at checkout, so a campaign that buys cheap trials can still lose money if those trials never convert or churn within months. A SaaS PPC agency has to manage advertising against customer acquisition cost (CAC), payback period and LTV:CAC, and has to feed the ad platforms the events that predict revenue.

In practice that means three things: measurement that follows a lead or trial through to a paying account, campaign structure built around intent and ideal customer profile, and a weekly read of CAC and payback by channel that growth and finance can both trust.

  • Trial starts, activation, demo bookings, paid conversion and churn tracked server-side and sent back to Google, LinkedIn and Meta
  • CRM and billing connections to HubSpot, Salesforce, Pipedrive or Stripe, so bidding learns from revenue rather than form fills
  • Google Search for buyers already looking for your category, competitors or alternatives
  • LinkedIn and Meta for reaching your ideal customer profile before they search, with retargeting by intent
  • Offer testing: free trial versus demo versus freemium, and routing to pricing or onboarding pages
  • Weekly reporting on blended CAC, months to payback and LTV:CAC by channel

Calculate the CAC your SaaS can afford

The most you can pay to acquire a customer depends on monthly revenue per account, gross margin and how quickly you need the cost back. Multiply monthly revenue per account by gross margin, then by your target payback in months. Many SaaS companies aim for 12 months or less; we set targets below the ceiling so the account has room to scale.

Example: allowable CAC at a 12-month payback target
Monthly revenue per accountGross marginAllowable CAC
£10080%£960
£30080%£2,880
£1,00075%£9,000
£2,50080%£24,000

Illustrative, in GBP. The same calculation applies in USD or EUR. Divide allowable CAC by your lead-to-customer rate to get the most you can pay per lead or trial.

Which channels work for SaaS

Google Search usually comes first because it captures people already looking for your category, a competitor or an alternative. LinkedIn is the most precise way to reach decision-makers by role, seniority and company, and suits higher contract values. Meta reaches the same buyers more cheaply, works well for self-serve and SMB SaaS, and carries most retargeting. YouTube explains complex products before buyers search.

We start with the channel closest to purchase intent, prove CAC there, then add reach channels against the same payback target rather than spreading a small budget across every platform at once.

Working with a UK or US SaaS team

Our team works in English, and Stockholm is one hour ahead of London, so calls and reporting fit the UK working day. For US teams we schedule calls in the overlapping morning hours on the US East Coast. Invoicing is available in EUR, GBP or USD.

Tracking is set up with Consent Mode v2 and server-side conversions, so measurement respects the cookie consent your UK and EU visitors give. We work inside your own Google Ads, LinkedIn Campaign Manager and Meta accounts, and you keep full admin access if the engagement ends.

How to choose a SaaS PPC agency

Put the same questions to every agency you evaluate.

  • Which event will you optimise on, and how does it connect to paid subscriptions?
  • What allowable CAC and payback target did you calculate from our numbers?
  • How will trials, demos and closed deals be sent back to the ad platforms?
  • What will you report weekly: platform conversions, or CAC and payback by channel?
  • What is the total fee at our budget, including setup, in writing, and what is the notice period?

FAQ

What does a SaaS PPC agency do?

It plans, builds and manages paid search and paid social for software companies, and measures success by customer acquisition cost, payback period and LTV:CAC rather than clicks or trial sign-ups. That includes tracking trials, activation and paid conversions and feeding them back to the ad platforms.

How much does a SaaS PPC agency cost in the UK?

At Vibe Digital, SaaS PPC management starts at €539 per month per platform plus 8% of ad spend over €900. Setup is a one-time fee from €250 per social platform and €450 for Google Ads. Prices exclude VAT, and UK clients can be invoiced in GBP. There is no long-term contract.

Do you work with UK and US SaaS companies?

Yes. We work with SaaS companies in the UK, the US, Canada, Ireland, Australia, New Zealand and across Europe. Calls and reporting are in English, and invoicing is available in EUR, GBP or USD.

Do you optimise on trials or paid subscriptions?

Paid subscriptions wherever volume allows. When paid conversions are too sparse for the algorithms to learn from, we optimise on the strongest predictive event, such as activation or a product-qualified lead, and validate it against real MRR every week.

Which channels should a SaaS company advertise on?

Most start with Google Search to capture existing demand, then add LinkedIn for higher-value B2B deals or Meta for self-serve and SMB products. YouTube helps explain complex products. We add channels one at a time against the same CAC and payback target.

Which SaaS companies are a good fit?

B2B and B2C SaaS with a proven offer, typically €500K–€20M in annual recurring revenue, running self-serve trials, demos or freemium-to-paid motions.

How long until SaaS PPC shows results?

Tracking and structure fixes usually show within two to four weeks. Improvements in CAC and payback typically land within the first 90 days, depending on sales cycle length.

Do we keep ownership of the ad accounts?

Always. We work inside your own accounts. You keep full admin access, every pixel and every conversion dataset if the engagement ends.

Is there a lock-in period?

No. Agreements run month to month. We earn the next month by the results of the current one.
